Craig M. Walker, M.D. Cardiovascular Institute of the South, Terrebonne General Medical Center, Houma Cardiologist/Cardiovascular Specialist

Dr. Walker, a native of Bourg, Louisiana, is a graduate of Nicholls State University and LSU Medical School. He received his postgraduate training in cardiology at Ochsner Foundation Hospital and completed a research and teaching fellowship at Harvard Medical School before returning to Houma to found Cardiovascular Institute of the South.

Dr. Walker was named one of the U.S. junior Chamber of Commerce's Ten Outstanding Young Americans for 1992 for proving that medicine of the highest order could be provided in smaller communities, and for his work as a clinical investigator and medical inventor. He is one of only a handful of physicians in the world to sit on the medical advisory boards of major corporations.

He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Cardiovascular Interventionists, the International College of Angiology, the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology.

Dr. Walker is author or co-author of more than four dozen medical publications and has delivered scores of lectures to both lay and medical audiences.
