Background
A 75-year-old male patient with abdominal aortic aneurysm underwent Endovascular stent graft implantation with the AneuRx stent graft and experienced partial coverage of the right renal artery orifice.
Procedure
After deployment of an Endovascular stent graft, the device partially covered the right renal artery. A MORPH, Deflectable Guide Catheter was advanced through an 11F sheath and deflected to cannulate the right renal artery orifice. (Fig 1) The renal artery was accessed with a 0.018 guide wire. The deflectable catheter changes shape as the guide wire is advanced. (Fig 2) A Fox PTA Balloon (6x20mm, Abbott Vascular Devices) was advanced through the MORPH deflectable catheter. The catheter takes on a shape similar to a RDC sheath. (Fig 3) A Medtronic Racer stent (6mm x 18mm) was advanced through the deflectable catheter and positioned within the right renal artery. (Fig 4)
Outcome
The BioCardia MORPH catheter can be used as a single device for cannulation of the renal artery orifice followed by PTA/stenting without exchanging for a sheath. The catheter is simple and effective in cannulating renal artery orifices and for the delivery of equipment for the treatment of renal artery stenosis.
